The Belgian Grand Prix has been red-flagged after heavy rain hit Spa-Francorchamps.

The formation lap passed off behind the Security Automotive earlier than the purple flag was waved and the sphere peeled again into the pit lane.

Most drivers have reported poor visibility resulting from spray throughout the formation lap, prompting the choice to droop the race.

Polesitter Lando Norris reported he was struggling to see on the formation lap.

Requested if visibility or standing water was the larger concern, Norris replied: “Visibility, the standing water just isn’t too dangerous.”

Norris will begin the race from pole forward of McLaren teammate and F1 title rival Oscar Piastri.

The rain at Spa introduced again reminiscences of the farce 4 yeas in the past.

In 2021, an undesirable file was set on the Belgian Grand Prix for the shortest race ever.

Three laps solely have been accomplished, all behind the Security Automotive.

Max Verstappen was finally declared the winner.
