Former Scotland and British and Irish Lions prop Ian McLauchlan has died on the age of 83, Scottish Rugby mentioned on Saturday.
Often known as “Mighty Mouse” as a result of he was rather a lot smaller than most loosehead props, Mclauchlan received 43 Scotland caps, captained his nation 19 instances and helped the Lions to sequence victories over New Zealand and South Africa.
He led Scotland in a check in opposition to England in 1973 two weeks after breaking his leg throughout a match in opposition to Eire.
“He was so robust, virtually indestructible. What a unbelievable profession he had for Scotland, and the Lions; it is very, very unhappy,” mentioned Andy Irvine, a former Scottish Rugby President and McLauchlan’s teammate for Scotland and the Lions.
